Get Ready With Me!: Dewy Skin

Hi gorgeous!

I've been asking and coming up with different ideas myself for my blog and Instagram. Please feel free to leave any suggestions on the comment section down below.

I've always thought that healthy looking skin is what stands out the most. Whether you're good or mediocre with your eye makeup skills, what matters is a flawless looking base. It makes no sense to have beautiful eye makeup if your skin looks cakey or dull.

Which is why I have a pictorial for you on how to get flawless-looking skin. Dewy skin. Yep, even for combination skin! If you're interested, keep reading!

TIP: Look for products that include the words: RADIANT or BRIGHTENING

I'll be using the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm as a primer and the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation.

1. Pick a brightening primer: dot and spread Beauty Flash Balm on your face. Don't rub it in, as it creates a thin film. Imagine you're spreading fudge on a cake.

2. Apply a radiant base: I'm working with the Healthy Mix Foundation by Bourjois and this is how I particularly apply it. I dot it on and then buff it in.

I chose to work with the Sephora Mineral Powder Brush #45.

3. Pick a brightening concealer: I'm using the Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer.

4. Cream products on the cheeks = healthy glow: I'm using Illamasqua's Cream Blush in the shade Brazen.

I love applying this product using the Real Techniques Stippling Brush. Very gently, barely have the bristles touch the product. You need the slightest amount because this blush is extremely pigmented.

Use tapping then buffing motions to blend the product.

5. Highlight: There are tons of highlighters out there, but I like using Benefit High Beam when I want a dewy finish. Apply this product by placing dots on the areas you want to brighten. I like to apply it on the top of my brows and cheekbones creating a sideways V (picture down below is self-explanatory), down the nose and on the cupid's bow.

6. Apply powder only where you need it: Usually I would pick a mattifying powder, but I chose to use a Bronzing Powder by Dior because I want that "healthy glow". I used the Dior Diorskin Nude Tan Healthy Glow Enhancing Powder in the shade Sunlight.

I applied it using a Real Techniques Powder Brush.

7. Apply a creamy shadow on the lid for the ultimate glow: I went with Chanel Illusion D'Ombre in the shade Emerville.

I applied it using my fingertips. The formula is SO creamy and easy to blend.

8. Apply your mascara of choice: I picked Rimmel London Lash Extender in Black just because I was going for a natural look.

9. Apply a bright lipstick of your choice: I went with Bourjois Lipstick in 47 Rose Pare which is a bright pink with gold sprarkle.

    1. Thank you so much! The Beauty Flash Balm can be a little tricky to work with because the directions aren't very clear. It creates a thin film on the skin, so you have to spread (not rub) it on your skin and IMMEDIATELY apply foundation, don't wait til it "sets" or "dries". I personally really like it.

  10. I'm not sure why but I can never seem to make the Bourjois healthy mix foundation work for me and I have combo skin! :( Will have to try it out the way that you applied it. I just hate how it doesn't contain any SPF!

Really really loved this post and wow, you look stunning with and without make up darl.

Keep up the great work, honestly one of the best tutorial posts I've seen.
Wish more bloggers would do it using pictures, I know its harder but to me I can see the steps you take more clearly.

    Love it!

    1. Hi! Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for your support. I really appreciate it.

How are you applying the Healthy Mix Foundation? I think it's easy to work with. There are pros and cons to a foundation not having SPF. If you don't like it for that reason, just wear sunscreen underneath, a moisturizer with SPF or a primer with SPF. Since the Healthy Mix doesn't have SPF, it's a great one for photography because you won't get any flashback (white face on pictures, not flattering at all).

Pictorials do take longer to post, but that's exactly what I wanted: to make it easier for you guys to understand each step. I'm so happy you liked it and it helped you! Much love.

    2. Aw you're welcome sweetheart!!

Um I pump out some product once onto the back of my hand then dab my MAC 187 brush into it and apply it from my cheeks out in a buff, circle sort of way. I find it really hard to blend for some reason and it just seems to sit on top of my skin..
That's a good point but I can never find a moisturiser with SPF that I like. Also Australia has such limited range.. :(
So I usually keep the healthy mix for night time use.

Please do some more if you can! You really do make them easy to understand and I can go back to them later to check I'm doing it right unlike a video!
      xx

  11. You're such a sweetheart! I needed the encouragement, so thank you! I will do more of these. Is there a particular thing you would like to see? I asked this question on IG and I wrote down a list on my notebook so I cover everyone's request.

It sounds like you're doing it just right - but then again, you know the rule of makeup/skincare/any beauty product in general: what works for some people may not work for all. We don't all have to love the same product. There are products my friends rage about that I don't like and vice versa. If it feels a little cakey maybe apply less and use more buffing/circular motions?
